;
; NOTES on Virus infections.
;
; There has been a RISE in virus infections over the last year.
; This is primaryly due to the introduction of EXE file
; compressors.
;
;
; Once an infected EXE file has been compressed, the virus
; checking programs can no longer detect it.
;
; I beleive a couple of the virus scanners can read Lzexe
; compressed files, but there are over 30 different compression
; programs available.
;
; A virus will attach to EXE, COM, SYS files (those found in
; your config.sys) your boot track, partition tables, and in
; program overlays.
;
; You want to GUARD, with integrity checksums, files with the
; extensions of EXE, COM, OVL, and any file you have listed in
; your CONFIG.SYS. You can exclude COMMAND.COM and OSIRIS.EXE
; from that list. Osiris will protect those two files.
;
; Viruses can NOT do any damage to TXT, PKT, DOC, BAK type files.
; The file MUST be runable in order for a virus to be considered
; a virus. A virus in TXT, PKT, DOC, etc. format is considered to
; be JUST documentation ON the virus and can't do any harm. Don't
; go FORMATTING your Harddrive just because you find something in
; a TXT file.
;
;
; THE FOLLOWING SECTION EXPLAINS ABOUT HOW TO USE
; THE "MAKE FILELIST" OPTION:
;
; The Make Filelist Option generates a TEXT listing of selected
; FILES.QBS files.
; This is generally used as a File Request list or to offer callers
; a text listing they can down load and read off line.
; 'Make Filelist' requires a control file, you can pickout the
; name and it is the FIRST argument following the KEY Phrase "Make
; FileList".
; The control file contains two lines.
; The first line is the full drive, path, and file name that is to be
; used for the TEXT listings.
; E.g. c:\osiris\files\filelist.txt
; The second line contains a list of the Osiris File areas to add to
; the TEXT listing. The list consists of the numeric area number, up
; to 500, separated by a blank space. All areas MUST fit on ONE line.
; e.g. 1 2 3 4 8 11 23
; Example of a control file
; c:\osiris\files\general\filelist.txt
; 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 9 10 11 12 13
; <EOF>
; The second argument is the name of a text HEADER file to insert at
; the TOP of the list. This file may contain almost anything but is
; generally used to display the name of your BBS.
; Example of a Header File.
; ════╦════
; ║ ╦

; ║ ╠══╗ ╔═╗
; ║ ║ ║ ╠═╝

; 1200 - 19,200 Baud ║ ╔══╣ ║ ║

; The third and final argument is the complete archiving instructions.
; E.g. arj m -e -jm d:\general\filelist filelis
